GTA 5 PC release date hinted at by Nvidia director g21

Grand Theft Auto V steals its way onto the current batch of consoles next month, and from everything Rockstar have shown so far, it's looking pretty good. A shame then, that a PC version still hasn't been announced – even if history tells us we will eventually get our hands on the game. Now, though, a comment by Chris Evenden, Nvidia's senior director of investor relations, may be hinting at a sooner-than-expected PC release. The comment was made during an earnings call, transcribed by Seeking Alpha: "The PC market is evolving. As entry level laptops face pressure from tablets. Yet sales of specialty PCs like gaming systems and work stations continue to grow. The disparity reflects how consumers use these different classes of PCs. Many consumers look for PC as a general purpose device they can use for browsing, email, social media video. But much of this can be better served by a tablet. In contrast, gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin's Creed IV." Obviously, anything outside of an official announcement should be treated with suspicion, and there's lots to be wary about here. For starters, the list of named games does seem to be the standard, generic list of end-of-year blockbusters – even if Evenden is specifically referring to PC system building. Moreover, "fall" seems like a surprising date, given its proximity to the console release. Traditionally, GTA's PC versions have appeared around 6-months later. Still, Nvidia will often work with developers to ensure that GPU drivers are stable and ready in preparation for a game's release. It's entirely possible that the company knows something we don't.
