| From the sound of it, CD Projekt Red is hoping to let us change a lot more in the ending of The Witcher 3 than the color of an explosion. Speaking to Softpedia, producer Marek Ziemak said that there will be "36 possible world states" at the end of the trilogy-capping RPG, dependent on choices the player makes. It's unclear how these "world states" will be expressed in the RPG, but Ziemak says they will follow three possible "epilogue sequences," which we suspect are separate cinematics or gameplay events. If we make the assumption that each epilogue is linked to a separate set of end states for The Witcher 3′s world, we can use an advanced form of math called "basic algebra" to extract that each epilogue will lead to 12 possible variations. Getting even further into theoretical, doctorate-level factoring, that could mean six binary variables, four three-way variables, or three four-way ones. That or some combination of the above, but I don't want to swim too far out into the world of math here. Ziemak was hesitant to share any details about what these possible endings might entail, or what kinds of decisions might cause them to diverge. But we'll continue to prompt CD Projekt to back up this quantitative claim as they prepare to release The Witcher 3 later this year. Until then, be sure to check out our first looky. Thanks, Cvgworld. And on the topic of game endings, here's our analysis and criticism of the ending of BioShock Infinite.
